Tis The Season...

Such busyness! The holiday season came at us like a freight train...almost as if I never saw it coming. Probably because most of my focus and energy went into preparing for one of the biggest shows of the season...The Last Minute Market in Cleveland. I'm so glad I did because the volume of shoppers was amazing! There was concern that the last shopping weekend before Christmas would be spent at the malls or doing other holiday activities, but the crowds came out with money and shopping lists in hand. What a wonderful feeling to see people purchasing unique, handcrafted items from local artisans and crafters. Even better, how wonderful for the gift receivers to find such thoughtful and one-of-a-kind treasures under their tree! So thank you to all who came out and brought us hard working vendors holiday cheer and such appreciation for what we do.

Now with that said, it was SO successful that I sold out most of my jewelry! How amazing is that!?!? I couldn't believe that shoppers were purchasing several items at once and at one point bidding for a single necklace! It was not only a very profitable venture, but also one that brought me such joy to have others find pleasure in my creations. I left the event feeling tired, with sore feet, an aching back, a smile on my face and storage tubs a whole lot lighter. I temporarily closed down my Etsy and other online shops to reorganize and get ready to list new items. What fun I had shopping these last few days for new supplies. I am already itching to get back to my art space and put these ideas to work!

On another great note: I won a very cool giveaway for one of
time2cre8's beautiful bracelet cuffs! It's easy to see why I'm so excited when drooling over all her amazing work on Etsy. The detail in her work is incredible!
By the way...MaryLou also has a great blog that I encourage you to browse through:
time2cre8.blogspot.com. Below is the 'Marcella' bracelet I won. Beautiful right?

I would also like to take this opportunity to truly thank all JBird's Garden Facebook fans. The encouragement, support and all around warm fuzzies you all send my way is my biggest inspiration by far. How generous you are with your compliments and positive energy. I truly am blessed to have you watching my back. :) And if you are reading this and are not yet a fan...come on over! www.facebook.com/JBirdsGarden

So 2009 is coming to a close. The tree is trimmed, the cookies are baked, the gifts are wrapped and I've seen A Charlie Brown Christmas and It's A Wonderful Life. My family is healthy and thriving and I know where each and every one of them is (trust me, with my family this is a big deal!). I am coming upon a crossroad soon and everyday I get better at preparing myself for it. JBird's Garden is a flower who's petals are slowly blooming and as long as the sun continues to shine on it, it will blossom into the Garden I had always hoped it would be. All is well and life is good.

Happy holidays, Merry Christmas, and wishes for a New Year filled with peace and wishes come true.

Check Out This Giveaway

I have to post this great giveaway from MaryLou's Art. The talent is never-ending. Bead weaving is something I just don't have the patience for which is why I admire it so much.

Check it out!

The Season Is Upon Us

The lights are up on the front porch, although I wish there were more (more is always better!), the holiday decor is coming up from their corner of the basement and the shopping has begun. A trip to Philly kicked off the season to spend Thanksgiving with family. Although it took me away from my creative place for a few days it did allow me to reconnect and enjoy some stress free time away from daily obligations. Now back at it!

I've been fortunate to have sold several pieces over the last couple of weeks, but that also did remind me that I have a show in a couple of weeks and need to replace them! Up to this point Ive enjoyed casually creating pieces as time and interest allow, but now the clock is ticking! So here are a couple of my newer pieces that I think offer more of a vintage flair than some of the more recent ones made before Oddmall. I'm happy with how they turned out.

I've also been busy with trying to juggle all the online shops and blogs and booths and directories and...and... WHEW! This is still a struggle for me and I realize the only way to successfully manage it all is give up my day job. haha Still a work in progress. One thing I am happy with is the new Facebook Fan Page I created
http://www.facebook.com/pages/JBirds-Garden/303644300593?ref=ts
It's really allowed me to connect with other crafters and artists, I can easily announce upcoming events, post new jewelry and find some amazingly creative people out there! In a short amount of time I have over 300 fans which is very motivating to me.

So part of that motivation is participating in a Handmade Holiday Sale at http://www.thehandmadegiftguide.com/ I have decided to offer free shipping for all items in my Etsy shop through December 19th. I'm looking forward to the promotions and to see who else will be part of this sale.

So back at it. I have a tree to put up, garland gathering for the fireplace, shopping to take care of and a show to prepare for at the Screw Factories Artists' Studio in Lakewood December 19th.

Where are those elves when I need them!?!?!?!?
